Dental Implants

Dental implants are built in the bony tissue of the upper or lower jaw by a surgical procedure and in this way compensate the missing root. On this implant by further dental procedures a suprastructure is done, a dental crown is made.

Dental implants are made of titanium today, which means they are biocompatible, totally harmless to the human organism. Thanks to its characteristics, titanium is an ideal material for making dental implants and it quickly establishes the requirements of osteointegration, the desired relationship between the dental implant and the bony tissue.

dental implantsCandidates for dental implant installation today are almost all patients regardless of age, although some states have an increased risk, and some associated diseases may pose a relative contraindication for dental implant installation.

These are primarily diabetes, osteoporosis, malignant diseases, heart attack or stroke, other metabolic diseases, as well as some kidney diseases.

Relative contraindications may pose some local factors such as poor oral hygiene, presence of infection, etc.

Increased risk of failure exists with passionate smokers.

Dental implantation involves a simple procedure that is performed under local anesthesia or analgosedation. After preoperative preparation, which includes full mouth rehabilitation status, and various measurements of the height and quality of the jawbone, X-ray, and often some other procedures, comes to the implantation procedure, which is completely painless.

Indications for implants include:

  • Replacement of a single tooth
  • Compensation of more teeth
  • compensation of more lost teeth

In some cases it is possible to incorporate the same act and make dental implants and crowns or bridges, but the procedure in most cases is done in two phases, after a certain time of making implants, crowns are made. The procedure also depends on whether it is the upper or lower jaw, as well as on some other factors.

A very common problem, especially in long-term toothlessness is the lack of bone available for implants, either in the upper jaw, or in the bottom. In such cases, when it comes to the upper jaw, it is necessary to do a “sinus lift”, to raise the maxillary sinus or to place an artificial autologous bone in the existing space. If the lower jaw is in question, also by special surgical techniques the necessary height of the alveolar ridge is provided.

Our practice uses several implant systems that are world brands, and also registered in our country and as such are approved for use by the Ministry of Health, such as Nobel Biocare (Sweden), IMTEC (USA), Isomed (Italy).

Implantation and guarantee for the implants

Oral implantation is a teamwork that is attended by a surgeon, orthodontist, dental technician and patient. All links in the pot must function perfectly if we want long-standing dental implant.

Oral implantation of the most successful implantation in medicine and is successful in over 95% of the cases if certain conditions are met. These conditions primarily involve the quality and quantity of bone that is available, impeccable surgical technique of installation, installation of the best dental implants, a high quality prosthetic work and the cooperation of the patient.

Our patients get the best dental implants of the companies such as “Nobel Biocare” or “Bronemark”, whose implants are leading in the world based on their performance, and which are built in respecting all the protocols prescribed and required by the producer.

In our clinical practice a large number of implants have been successfully built in also to patients who are at risk in terms of their long-term existence. These are patients who suffer from diabetes, mellitus, osteoporosis, who have insufficient bone height and width, or who are heavy smokers. The implantation of such patients in most cases was successful, but since we can not affect these conditions, so in these cases we can not give a guarantee in terms of longevity, but we can guarantee that we will do everything possible for the implantation to be successful.

If it happens that the implant drops, the patient has an absolute right to be implanted on again and this guarantee is valid for all.

The patient then needs to keep that implant and bring it to the practice.

Guarantee does not apply if another doctor without our approval removes the implants or suggest the patient to do it, if someone else after the implantation performs any surgical or dental procedures on the patient that might compromise the osteointegration of implants embedded.

The guarantee does not apply to passionate smokers and those who do not maintain good personal hygiene and that is manifested by creating dental plaque and tartar which most directly threatens the survival of the implant.

Only the extraordinary collaboration of doctors and patients provides long-term survival of the implant, and in view of the surgical technique, materials used to produce implants, quality production of a prosthetic device, the failure is minimized.
