Fruška Gora is a mountain a few kilometers south of Subotica. Due to its beautiful landscape, nature and gorgeous countryside, is is also referred to as jewel of Serbia.
There are over a dozen Serbian Orthodox monasteries located on Frushka Gora which were declared Monuments of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1990. Most of these monasteries were built during the 16th century. In the 18th century monks of Racha monastery in the Bajina Bashta municipality found their place in Frushka Gora monasteries and were famous for their illuminated manuscripts.
Fruška Gora is a perfect place to visit for anyone who is interested in old religious buildings and gorgeous, untouched nature.
